At Berger Primary School we aim to equip pupils to use computational and analytical thinking to be independent users of technology. Computing supports pupils’ creativity and problem solving skills through cross curricular learning that is accessible for all pupils. We want to provide children with engaging and enriched learning experiences and enable children to use technology positively, responsibly and safely.
Computing is delivered through 3 strands:
Computer Science (CS) is the ‘foundation’ of the subject (i.e. the underlying principles that make up the subject).
Information Technology (IT) is how one applies this knowledge and understanding to purposefully create and make things.
Digital Literacy (DL) is about considering the ‘implications’ of how one going about doing this.
The implementation of this curriculum ensures that all children are prepared for the future and leave Berger as competent and safe users of technology where they can express and develop their ideas in an increasingly digital world.
