Forest School- Stone Age Shelters
At forest school Rowan Class made Stone Age shelters!
Rowan Class had lots of fun using natural resources to create our own Stone Age cave painting! We turned our classroom into a cave, and created some artwork using only materials they would have found in the Stone Age - berries and charcoal! We also made Stone Age style art using paints and paintbrushes to compare how much easier it is to paint with modern materials.
As part of the PSHE curriculum, Year 3 visited the Houses of Parliament. We even got to meet and ask questions to our local MP, Meg Hillier!
This half term the children in Rowan class have been learning about volcanos! The children designed, built and decorated volcanos using cardboard, recycled bottles and papier-mâché. Once we had created our volcanoes, we used different ingredients to cause an explosion!
This half term, the children in Rowan class have been learning about the book ‘Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes. We undertook a D&T project, where the children evaluated different board games, created a design brief for a board game, and designed their own game, before eventually making, playing and evaluating their own game. In science we have been learning about forces and magnets, and after investigating which types of materials are magnetic, all the children incorporated magnets into their own board games.
Rowan class had fun on our Ancient Egypt wow day! We made Ancient Egypt style headdresses and necklaces, learned to write our names in hieroglyphics and paid a visit to an animal worshipped by Ancient Egyptians... our school cat, Thierry! Rowan Class were also visited by Cleopatra, they asked her questions about her life as a pharaoh and learnt some very interesting facts!
In year 3 we have been learning about Ancient Egypt. We had a visitor come into school to teach us all about life in Ancient Egypt. Rowan Class were also visited by Cleopatra, they asked her questions about her life as a pharaoh and learnt some very interesting facts!
The children wore their brightest outfits to show their understanding of road safety. The children also designed their own posters offering advice to others about how to remain safe and be seen.
