Spring 1 - WOW day

Our topic this half term was famous authors, so we decided to turn into authors ourselves. We wrote letters using quills, planned our own stories, wrote the plot and drew illustrations.

Spring 1 - Chinese New Year Celebration

We celebrated Chinese New Year, the Year of the dragon. We made dragons and had our own Chinese New Year parade around the playground and the school. Our friend also shared some photos of him and his family celebrating Chinese New Year.

Spring 1 - Indoor activities

We have had lots of fun exploring the activities that we have had in our classroom. We have been dressing up, building, drawing pictures and making structures out of recycled materials.

Spring 1 - Maths

We have focused on shape, space and measures this half term. We explored clocks, discussed our daily routines and put them in order, we explored different ways of measuring our bodies and our toys. We used scales to weigh objects. We also continued to practice our subitising skills.

Spring 1 - Science

We were learning about the life cycles of frogs and butterflies. We know that frogs and butterflies change as they grow and that baby froglets and caterpillars look different from their parents. We also had a go at drawing their life cycles.

Autumn 2 - Trip to the O2

For our transport trip we went to the O2 arena. We used lots of different modes of transport to get there. We used the Overground, the Underground, the DLR and the cable cars. It was such a wonderful experience as we got to explore lots of different modes of transport that we have available in London.

Autumn 2 - Transport topic WOW day

Our topic this half term is transport and for our WOW day we got to explore lots of different types of vehicles. We also looked at photos of ourselves using different modes of transport and shared our experiences with our peers. We even had our own bus to play in, in our role play area.

Autumn 2 - Arts and crafts

We have had lots of fun being creative this half term. We made lots of different Christmas crafts, we even decorated our Christmas cards that we made for our family members. We also had lots of great fun at the malleable table, we made blue snow, decorated our Christmas tree and used playdough to make different types of vehicles.

Autumn 2 - Literacy - Reading, writing and phonics

This half term. we have continued to focus on our letter formation, name writing and using our sounds to write CVC words and played lots of letter and sound games. We have also been doing lots of reading and learning to point at each word as we read them.

Autumn 2 - Maths

This term we have continued to focus on numbers but have also explored learning about 2D and 3D shapes and positional language. We have been doing lots of counting, ordering numerals, matching numeral and quantity and exploring how we can make amounts increase and decrease by adding 1 more or taking one away. We have been working on finding different ways of grouping objects and have discovered that the total is always the same even if the groups are split or separated in different ways.

Autumn 1 - Trip to Victoria park

We went to Victoria park to explore how the trees have changed. We talked about the weather and why the colour of the leaves were changing and why the leaves were falling off the trees. We collected some sticks, twigs and leaves to create prints and patterns with.

Autumn 1 - Forest school

We have had great fun at forest school, exploring nature and our surroundings. It was great fun climbing the trees in the Hackney marshes.

Autumn 1 - Outdoors

We have been enjoying exploring our outdoor play area. We have been learning about kind ways to play with our peers, taking turns and sharing our toys. We are really enjoying using our new swing, climbing on the climbing frame and riding the bikes.

Autumn 1 - Maths

In maths this half term, we have been focusing on numbers. We have learning to recite our numerals, ordering them from smallest to biggest, writing the numerals and matching numeral and quantity.

Autumn 1 - Literacy/Phonics

In literacy and phonics we have been learning the names and sounds of the letters of the alphabet. We have been practicing our pencil grip and pencil control, to write our letters and have a go at writing our names.

Summer 1 - Understanding of the World

We learnt about what plants need in order to grow, and how they grow. We then planted our own sunflower seeds in order to take home and enjoy.

Easter Parade

We invited parents in to make an Easter Bonnet for our parade. We also had an Easter Egg Hunt and performed some songs that we learnt about Australia and Plants to our parents.

Maths Summer 1

We continued working on our understanding of number. We subitised, matched, used number lines and concrete objects. We even begun our work on adding and taking away, writing down the sum.

Summer 1 - Australia!

We learnet about Australia, and launches out topic with tasting of some Australian classics, such as vegemite sandwiches, pavlovas and anzac biscuits. One of them was not popular at all… can you guess?
We also read a lot of stories about animals in Australia. We made a fact book and made a koala art piece out of newspaper, sugar paper and googly eyes.
We also located Australia on a map, names the regions and explores some landmark, such as the Sydney Opera House, which we made using paper plates.
We had sensory experiences witth oats ansd coconut, sand and little critters (plastic, no worries).
