Autumn 2 - PSHCE

In PSHCE this half term, year 1 have been learning about different roles and responsibilities in society. We have been learning about money, why it is important, how it is earned and what it can be spent on. We talked about the responsibility adults have to manage money in order to ensure that they and the people they care for are safe and healthy. To do this, we applied and had interviews for different roles in the classroom! The children role played performing different jobs such as doctors, hairdressers, bus drivers and shopkeepers in order to earn ‘money’ which we needed to ‘spend’ in a responsible way the next lesson!

Autumn 1 - The Runaway Pea!

One of the texts we have been learning about in Pine class is 'The Runaway Pea' by Kjartan Poskitt. After reading the book, we did lots of activities involving peas to help us learn more about the story though play. We did activities involving real peas, as well as painting peas, making peas from playdough and more! All the activities helped us to write a brilliant poem together - ‘The runaway class’!
