In February, Copper Beech class have a trip to a temple.
In topic, children have been learning about the Kingdom of Benin. They have been learning how to play the drums and made some colourful banners.
For Wow day, children had their Ekasa ceremony with drummers and a procession. An Oba then chose his Ekasa based on their dancing and their banners. Being chosen as Ekasa is a great honour!
Children in Copper Beech class enjoyed creating and make an on-screen character. They were able to understand different types of inputs and outputs. Children were able to design, write and debug programmes to make a superhero character. They made the superhero appear and disappear, changed the size of the superhero. Children were able to make their own superhero stories using the skills they learnt.
Copper Beech class welcomed the year by having a Wow day about the Romans. They dressed up in togas and made laurel wreaths for their heads. Children also made Roman coins by icing biscuits. Finally, children had a Roman banquet, eating food that Romans would eat, such as bread, honey, olives, cucumber, cheese and grapes.
Children worked hard to plan and design and make a musical instrument. They were able to play their instrument to a Spanish song. They also evaluated their instrument and thought about what they liked and what worked well and things that they thought could be improved should they have another attempt.
This half term, the topic is Spain. For WOW day, Copper Beech class had a Spanish Fiesta in the class. Children played Spanish music on the guitar, they tasted Spanish food, they created some fireworks using scratch art and face painted each other. Finally they learnt about Spanish flamenco dancing and bullfighting. A very enjoyable day!
Children have been learning how to code and are able to:
· make the superhero appear and disappear.
· Change the size of the superhero
· Debug a code.
They also learnt how to set a timer and to make a sound when there was a collision.
Children were able to make their own stories using the skills they learnt.
